We are super proud to share that here at Macro Mike, we have taken even further steps in becoming more sustainable and environmentally conscious!
We may glow red and yellow, but our intention here at Macro Mike HQ is to be as green as possible. We are constantly striving to be better…to do better, create better products, create a better customer experience and better our impact on our precious Earth. We thought it would be great to celebrate some of the steps we have taken to go a little greener around here.
We have recently swapped over to a biodegradable protein scoop which we use in our entire protein range. This means our legendary red scoops won’t be sitting in landfill for years to come, but will still be doing the same epic job of scooping our best-selling protein into your shaker, blender or bowl! Once you are done with using it, simply pop in the home compost and have peace of mind that it will not be contributing to useless pollution.
Now let’s talk about our fancy new satchels! We have also made the change to eco-friendly compostable delivery satchels. Yup…that bright yellow bag that represents sunshine in your life once your order arrives is now made of compostable corn starch. Specifically, they are made from corn starch, PLA (made from corn), and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate).
These bad boys may look and feel like regular plastic, but they are actually composed of 100% compostable and biodegradable materials and are designed to breakdown in a home compost in 90 days. Just take any extra stickers or labels off and over time these satchels will decay away with your food scraps. Pretty mind-blowing stuff.
We’re also taken a bunch of other steps around here to green things up such as ordering large volumes of ingredients at a time to reduce ordering frequency and therefore, delivery frequency. We also only get pick up from the local Postie once per day, to minimise waste of their time and fuel. Our office staff are completely paper-free, everything is electronic. We encourage everyone to think twice before printing and also encourage the team to recycle wherever they can! This applies to our office staff, production factory and warehouse too. We’ve also installed water fountains to reduce the single-use plastic waste and have even installed a new bike rack for staff who want to cycle to work.
We’re constantly looking to improve ourselves on our sustainability journey and are super happy with how far we have come! Feel free to send us any tips or suggestions :)
